ChineseDragonBlueChineseDragonBlueWelcome To That's Life Politics

Politics(from Greek: πολιτικός politikos, definition "of, for, or relating to citizens")is the process of making uniform decisions applying to all members of a group.

Would like to say I'm all for Scottish independence, and I have voted SNP all my adult life, so sorry if you disagree with my political opinion, as long as there is no abuse, your comments are still very welcome, after all that is what makes a great debate.

CalMacThis is brilliant news for Scotland, this article is from my local MSP's website:-

The SNP Government has confirmed that Calmac Ferries Limited is the preferred tenderer for the next contract to operate the Clyde and Hebrides Ferry Services (CHFS) network.

Commenting on the announcement, local MSP Kenneth Gibson said:

LabourMSPWhat drugs are these idiots on, anything that tackles sectarian behaviour, especially in sport football must be a good thing, I know there's lots of fans out there who would never behave like these sectarian idiots do, and they are a small percentage of folk who are causing the trouble, so anything that stamps it out, is good, aint it?

Makes me think its my ball and i'm taking it home, about time they all grew up.

The story as seen on STV website

James Kelly said the law was 'a symbol of the SNP's arrogance in government'.

A Labour MSP is set to take the first steps to repeal controversial legislation aimed at tackling sectarianism.

hairy mutti thumbAs many across Europe await the outcome of Sunday’s federal election in Germany, some are hoping for a change of direction from Germany in its handling of the Euro-zone crisis. However, it’s pretty clear to me that there will be no change of policy from whatever new government that emerges. Germany’s insistence on fiscal prudence and structural reform will remain the priority with the new administration agreeing to do the absolute minimum to keep the “show on the road” whilst protecting the German taxpayer.

With the polls fluctuating daily, it is uncertain what coalition will emerge but one likely outcome is the status quo of Angela Merkel’s CDU/CSU alliance and the FDP, a free market liberal party. There are however doubts as to whether the FDP will be able to muster the 5% vote share required to enter the parliament due to the increasing support for the anti-Euro party, the AfD. Should this materialise, a grand coalition between the CDU/CSU and the centre-left SPD party would probably emerge as the most likely government formation.

FalkirkCouncilThis is absolutly disgracefull use of public money, if the Orange Order insist's on walking every year, they should be funding it themselves, I for one, object to any council taxes getting used for this!

How Council Tax is spent

Although it is the only tax which is set by local government in Great Britain, the Council Tax ostensibly contributes only a small proportion (25%, on average) of local government revenue. The majority ostensibly comes from central government funding, either as grants, or in the form of business rates which are collected centrally and redistributed to local authorities.

Councils often have to raise Council Tax because cuts in central government funding have left them with shortfalls, and they argue that Council Tax must be raised to compensate for this because it makes up such a small portion of their income in the first place.

fancy swastika thumbOn the evening of 17th September, in a neighborhood of Athens, a 34-year old hip-hop artist and antifascist activist Pavlos Fyssas was murdered by a gang of the neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn. The murderer admitted to be a member of Golden Dawn while it is known that he is on the party’s payroll. This crime was the follow up of the violent attack of Golden Dawn members against the Greek Communist Party that were just hanging posters. Fyssas was the second known murder of Golden Dawn this year after the murder of a Pakistani immigrant on 17/01/2013 who was killed while biking to work in Athens. This was the culmination of hundreds of reported incidents of racist violence during the last years in Greece.

Once again the police made no effort to prevent the murder. According to several eyewitnesses, a special police unit known for their sympathy to the neo-Nazi’s (DIAS) were standing next to the spot of the murder, just watching and refusing to intervene. On the contrary, during the large protests followed the murder, the police used extreme and unprovoked violence against the protesters prosecuted dozens while it allowed Golden Dawn members standing behind police lines to attack demonstrators with stones.

BurnhamThe former Cabinet minister's decision is being seen by some as part of a brain drain of Labour MPs under Jeremy Corbyn.

Andy Burnham has claimed Westminster has failed the north of England as he launched his campaign to become a powerful mayor of Greater Manchester.

Declaring he will fight to end the North-South divide, he is demanding better road and rail communications for the North and pledging to integrate health and social care.

Mr Burnham unveiled his personal manifesto for the soon-to-be created job, to be elected in May 2017, in a speech to Labour activists and supporters in Salford.

His decision to stand, revealed by Sky News as polls closed on election night on 5 May, is part of a potential brain drain of senior Labour MPs and will prompt claims that they see little future under Jeremy Corbyn at Westminster.
